What
Is TIPS™?
The TIPS™
(Training for Intervention ProcedureS)
program is designed to teach servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol to
prevent intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking. The program is
taught by a certified TIPS™
trainer, using video and printed materials to facilitate discussion of the
course content. Jeanne has been a TIPS trainer for 5 years and has worked
with hotel and restaurant professionals throughout the United
States. That's one of the benefits of TIPS... certification is
mobile.
TIPS™
is a practical, common sense approach to preventing irresponsible alcohol
service and consumption. This training helps guests who are drinking from
hurting themselves, injuring others or damaging property.
There are nine versions of
the TIPS™
program. d’Orleans
Hospitality Training offers
the On Premises version which addresses needs
specific to bars, restaurants and full service hotels.
We strongly advise all servers and managers (including MODs) to
participate.
Each TIPS™
course consists of three sections:
Ø
Information
Ø
Skills Training
Ø
Practice/Rehearsal
At the end of each
program, we administer a multiple-choice exam, which is sent to
Health Communications, Inc. for grading and record-keeping. Students who
pass the exam receive a certification card,
which is valid for three years. It is transferable throughout the
United States
.
